Last Thursday, Magyar Cymru was a topic of discussion at Budapest Metropolitan University, as BA Public Diplomacy students heard from Founder Balint Brunner about the success of the initiative - and about the peculiarities of its unique no-budget, 'grassroots' approach to cultural diplomacy. Balint Brunner said: "I'm honoured to have been invited to speak at Budapest Metropolitan University and reflect on how Magyar Cymru's creative activations have resulted in hundreds of pieces of media coverage in both countries so far - and piqued the interest of embassies, local authorities and high-profile cultural organisations. "It was fascinating to see students comparing Magyar Cymru - a completely volunteer-run 'passion project' - to the likes of the British Council and the Indian government's cultural centre in Hungary, recognising the potential that such grassroots public diplomacy initiatives have in enhancing cultural connections."
