Sommelier Csilla Sebestyén delivering a Hungarian wine tasting session at Gwen Restaurant in Machynlleth

In May 2023, we chose the quaint Welsh town of Machynlleth as our base for Welsh-Hungarian Friendship Day. Together with Best of Hungary, we hosted an exquisite wine, cheese, and charcuterie tasting event at the town’s up-and-coming Gwen Restaurant.

We’re grateful to sommelier Csilla Sebestyén from Sebestyén Winery who travelled to Machynlleth all the way from Szekszárd in Hungary to deliver a captivating wine tasting session - and to Rhiain Bebb for playing the Welsh triple harp and giving us an exclusive tour of the Senedd-dŷ Owain Glyndŵr!

It was a pleasure to welcome Machynlleth Mayor Jeremy Paige, Ben Lake MP, and Hungarian Honorary Consul Martin Berkeley too.
